The Praying Teen by Salami Olaronke

A bloodshot eyes from tears

And a shivering lips with peers
For each step I took came back to me
Perhaps a peep into the future would have took me into a different direction

A ear that should have listened to the words back then
And feet that should have walked in light rather than darkness
For my innocent heart would have been pure
Only if I wasn’t in a rush to taste what is meant for the elders.

Of course! The deed is done
My ears are now eager to listen to the words I walked away from
My feet want to tread in the light that is meant for me
My broken heart want to be filled with His love
I wanna have the taste of amazing grace.

Now! I have the grace and love
It was indeed almost too late to realize
The joy to speak with the utter most Savior
A bended knees each day would have
Been a privilege to listen to His words
And tread on light rather than deviate.

“What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and grief to bear… ”
